So this LJ thing, it's for writing, yes? I sometimes forget that. Silly me. I mostly use it to acquire new fandoms with which to entertain myself. Stargate Atlantis is my newest, specifically the EPIC gay space love known as McShep (Rodney -n- John 4ever!). How can the writers seriously think John isn't totally in love with Rodney? Oh right. They're all heterosexual men who fear stupid things like bending over in public showers. That's what happens when you get a bunch of geeks together to write a show. With them, anyone with ovaries has a characterization written so atrociously that my hypothetical unborn children could do better, they see relationships as only male/female, and continuity? pfft. What's that?



But I really ignore all that, because that's why fandom exists. To make it all better!



The latest with me is that I have sunk to an all-new low: I am a high school physics teacher. Not just any high school mind you, but my old high school, where half of the staff taught me less than 10 years ago. Strange how that happens. I make no money, the kids don't work hard enough sometimes, and the parents think everything is my fault. Yipee. Self-torture at its best. But it isn't all bad. I do have some very intelligent students, most of whom will go on to lead far more productive lives than I currently do. Oh well. Teaching is supposed to be about spreading knowledge and gaining personal fulfillment from that. Which I guess is okay, but when one of my students wins a Nobel, I want a mention dammit!



No boyfriend, no social life, spend my weekends doing prep for the school week ahead. Yay me.



Now back to searching for new SGA fics to read....

I guess I'll make a post for the first time in six months! Happy 23rd to me. My Golden Birthday. 23 on the 23rd. Where does the time go? I mean, it's like a time vortex down here in Louisiana. Had lunch with my Mom, Dad, Step Dad, sister, and eldest cousin (they all work for my mom). Yummy Mexican food. Now I'm at home on my ass avoiding work. Just like any other day. Well I suppose we'll make this an update post. Lists are always fun!

But on a less obnoxious side note, I really hope the AP poll puts LSU at No. 1. All that talk about USC being a better team? Tough Shit. They were not 1 or 2, and so they could not play for the title. The BCS system, while flawed, is THE method for determining the champion. The boys of LSU worked their asses off to prove themselves, and if the Associated Press tries to take it away from them (like they did in 2003), there will be a riot. Let's just hope the AP doesn't do something that stupid. There's already smack talk about how USC could have beat LSU or OSU, and that Georgia is a better team than LSU. Jealousy I tell you! But until the poll comes out in the morning, I leave with this:

Well it's been a while since I posted. Lots of life changes have occurred. Let's see a list:

1.) Graduated from Loyola University Chicago. Magna Cum Laude, BS in Physics. 3.71 GPA. Rock on!
2.) Didn't get into graduate school. Anywhere. Bummer.
3.) Moved from Chicago back to Shreveport, Louisiana. Living with Mom, and still no boyfriend. Again, bummer.
4.) Started working for my mother as an interim job so I'm not poor and sitting on my ass. Office work sucks.

I GOT A TATTOO!!

Whee! It hurt like hell ('tis on my lower back), but it's totally worth it. It is the Florentine Fleur de Lis, the formal flag and shield of Florence, Italy. Florence is my favorite city, I'm French, and I'm from Louisiana. Fleurs are in right now, so I wanted to be sure this one was different. I think it's successful. My icon is the tattoo, but here's a picture anyway. I wasn't drunk either. I don't drink anyway, and I got this from 3:30-7 PM on Friday May 25th.

So yea, lots of life changes. As soon as it all sets in, I'm starting the job hunt. I'd eventually like to be able to use my degree. We'll see how that works. Peace out!
